Amen, Steve!

It's funny; my experience was the exact opposite of yours. I already knew of Joe's writing through his NYO columns. When The Hunting of the President came out, I knew Gene Lyons was the [or, rather, one] author, but it was a while before I realized that he had a co-author, and that it was none other than Conason. Don't ask me how I missed that - to this day, I don't know. But for those of us involved in progressive politics, policy, and news, I think Joe is truly one of life's blessings.

Conason is a stellar light in my skies. It is ironic that I did not know of him before The Hunting of the President, and even then I bought the book because I knew the work of Gene Lyons. Since that time, Conason has been one of those individuals I have come to depend upon never to bullshit me. If he's occasionally mistaken, and that's rare enough, he's never, ever spinning. And yes, he has shown himself to be blogosphere-friendly a number of times, including an appearance on an extended comment thread on (I think) Firedoglake a while back. We need a dozen of him, or at least a dozen with his attitude.
