<i>"the NSA would do it for free"</i>

And here's Lilith, live-blogging from Gitmo . . . .

But you're right, erizzle - this was the third laptop I've bought in as many years, and it looks like I'm going to have to get another one this year. (Not just because of this problem, but because I now need more power and features that this one doesn't have). But with all three, before the initial year was up, keys were starting to fall off and other annoying problems were cropping up. In fact, by the second month, I'd already worn most of the letter "E" off the key. Planned obsolescence is definitely the marketing strategy.

WRT Cooper: Yeah, don't you love that line, "I could do the full Mandela"? Not - ahem - full of himself or anything, is he? Newsflash, Matt: When musing on the consequences of [hardly] doing one's cushy, access-laden "job," comparing oneself to a true martyr to a real cause is not only unseemly - it's fucking laughable.

these tools we're using are designed, at least to a small degree, to age and die prematurely. i can't even sharpen a knife without nicking the blade. computers? forget it.

Thank you, erizzle!!! Definitely needed right now. The data recovery - if it's even possible - is probably gonna set me back by enough to buy my own third world country. Jeez, I feel like an idiot.
