Many thanks to the irrepressible and irreplaceable Steve Bates at the YDD for the links. And while I’m at it, I want to return the favor: Steve’s post, "What Edwards Accomplished," underscores some important points that I failed to make about the role that Edwards has played in this primary. As he notes, we owe Edwards a debt of gratitude for (among many other things) making the subjects of this campaign relevant to ordinary folks.
That’s one too-seldom-recognized element of the GOP’s success: It couches its corporatist, expansionist, fundamentalist agendas in faux-populist rhetoric to persuade voters that it really is watching out for the little guy. Of course, nothing could be further from the truth, but the Rethugs have been veritable geniuses at it. And so racism becomes about "illegal immigration," which morphs magically into "protecting jobs," and criminal lawbreaking becomes about "catching terrorists," which transmogrifies into "protecting children," and so on and so forth down the slippery slope to authoritarian hell.
What Edwards has managed to do - and this is one of the reason Teh Villagers hate him so for being so "angry" - is to turn the GOP’s bullshit rhetoric inside-out (or rather, to take rhetoric that’s already inside-out and turn it back to reality), by breaking down the establishment agenda into terms that are relevant to ordinary people’s lives. Doing so has shown average voters that, in fact, voting Rethug is not in their own self-interest, long-term or otherwise.
And I still say, vote Edwards. It’s time to hold his delegates hostage until we extract some real action from the eventual nominee.

DENNNNNNNNNIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Thanks, Lilith.
I’m not certain, but I believe Edwards will still be on the Texas ballot, so yes, I’ll vote for him in the primary.
FWIW, the image is not copyright by me. I found it on Google Images a long time ago. It had no ownership info. I assumed, and assume, it is public domain. All I did was crop the background to a circle and create a mirror image from it, with the dog facing… left.
(Aside to NTodd: the Texas DP stripped Kucinich from our primary ballot because he refused to sign an oath to support the Dem nominee in November. The way things work here, as I understand them, if I vote for Dennis, I automatically invalidate my whole ballot.)

Primal scream therapy, NTodd?
Steve, it’s funny - at the time, I wasn’t sure, but since sending in my absentee ballot, I feel a whole lot better about my decision. The BF did the same on Tuesday, and he feels good about it, too. Who knows? If the returns keep going the way they are, maybe Edwards will decide to keep his campaign in suspension all the way to the election, and actually use his delegates as we’re hoping. Symbolic, sure, but then again, I always wind up voting (in the primaries, at least) for the loser, because inevitably, the frontrunner’s too much of a whore for my taste.
If it’s true that a vote for Kucinich invalidates the whole ballot, though, that’s terrible. That’s one of the reasons that I believe ballot standards and access for presidential races should be federalized: It would do away with a lot of this two-bit localized voter suppression bullshit (which, while two-bit, still manages to disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters, at a minimum, in every election).

I don’t know the Ohio rules here but my friends and I are hoping to still vote for him in out March 4 primary. Maybe he can walk away with a few more delegates. I want to give him a BIG voice at the convertion and in writing the platform.

I’m with you, JACBI. I just hope he hangs on, and doesn’t let himself get pressured into endorsing one or the other. I saw last night that Mark Halperin was reporting that Edwards is leaning toward Hillary, which I find all kinds of unlikely. Then again, it is Halperin - he of, as Tbogg put it, Hot Halperin Bukkake with Hugh Hewitt. (Ugh. Why did that image have to come to mind just now?)
